Driving
This afternoon, I begin the process of getting an Irish driver’s license.
Specifically, I’m going down to the test center in Drogheda to take my Theory Test. This is the first step in the long, somewhat complicated journey. If I held a license from a different EU country, or even from Canada, I could exchange that license for an Irish license pretty easily. Unfortunately, I hold a Texas driver’s license, and there is no agreement between Ireland and any U.S. state that covers this.
I’ve been studying for the test for about a week now, and have taken more than ten Mock Tests. I usually answer all forty questions correctly, but there’s a few obscure areas that I sometimes get wrong once per test.
I’ll update this post with the results, good or bad. Wish me luck!
UPDATE:
I passed the Theory Test! I got 39 of the 40 questions correct, but for test security purposes they can’t tell me which one I missed.
Next up is to submit my application for a learner’s permit - I’ll do that tomorrow.
